SVG Community College to host lecture later this month |

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College will continue its series of lectures later this month.
The College says in a release that the lecture will challenge certain practices in education in the region as being undemocratic and inequitable.
Director of the College, Dr. Joel Warrican, will speak on the topic: “Exorcising the Demons of Colonialism – Creating Participating Citizens through Democracy in Education”.
Dr. Warrican is also a Lecturer and has published and presented papers on Educational Issues both regionally and Internationally.
The release says the lecture coincides with the release of Dr. Warrican’s fifth book which provides guidance for teachers of literacy in a Caribbean context.
The lecture takes place at Frenches House on Wednesday 25th April beginning at 8:00 p.m.

In a very exciting contest among the Juniors, the defending champs in both categories, Kingstown Preparatory School retained their "Female Category" title, while the males were dethroned by the C.W. Prescod Primary School. Forty-one primary schools from around the island participated in the day's activities, and competed in a total of 52 events. The following day saw the secondary school students compete in 56 track and field events which were of a closely competitive nature. The Thomas Saunders Secondary School retained their female title, while it was unclear about the male winners with the St.Vincent Grammar School and the Thomas Saunders Secondary School males very close in their total points accumulated.
